Employment and Payment of Your MTs


The employment of the MTs will follow the guidelines provided by theUnited States Department of Labor. This is in terms of the minimumpayment, type of employment, benefits and the model used to pay theMTs. The hiring of the MTs will be on employee basis as opposed tobeing contractors. This is informed by the fact that employees have anumber of advantages over independent contractors (Fishman, 2014). Tostart with, employees can stay in the organization for a longer timethan independent contractors. Independent contractors normally cometo an organization ad leave as soon as their work is done. However,employees have the potential of staying for longer in an organizationand do progressive jobs.

The option of hiring employees is also informed by the fact thathiring employees gives the employer control over the employees. Theemployer can give directions to the employees as how the job shouldbe done. On the contrary, the employer has no control over theindependent contractors. It is also essential to state that thegovernment looks forward to organizations having more employees thanindependent contractors. As a consequence, the government scrutinizesorganizations that have independent contractors more than the oneshaving employees. Therefore, hiring employees will imply that theorganization will not be under any constant scrutiny from thegovernment (Fishman, 2014). Lastly, research has indicated thathiring employees has little legal lawsuits relating to employeeinjuries. This is because the employees are covered by the employee’compensation plan. However, this is not the case with independentcontractors where the employer may be sued due to an injury that thecontractor incurs at work.

The employees in the organization will be paid on hourly basis. Thisis because this form of payment has various benefits over other modesof payments such as salaries. To start with, it is evident fromresearch that paying on hourly basis is cheaper. This is because theemployees are only paid for the work that they have done or for thehours that they have worked. It is also clear that the employees paysome of the benefits such as health insurance. This is advantageousto the employer since it reduces the costs significantly. This is notthe case with salaried employees where the organization has to payfor their health cover. In every organization, there are instanceswhen there is little or enormous work. During such times, it is wishof every management team to reduce the number of hours that employeeswork and only pay them for the few hours they have worked (Fishman,2014). This is exactly what paying employees on hourly means. Theemployer has the authority to reduce the number of hours that eachemployee works depending on the amount of work. The consequence ofsuch an arrangement is immense reduction in the amount of wages paidto the workers.

In case the organization requires to keep the employees for over ayear, it is possible ad allowed by the law to pay hourly pademployees for leave, retirement contributions and other benefits.What is clear here is that the employer has flexibility and canmanipulate the employees to fit his requirements (Fishman, 2014).This means that the organization will benefit largely at the end.Lastly, it is useful to mention that the hourly employees are givenfewer vacation hours than the salaried employees. This implies thatthe employees will work more for the organization tan the salariedemployees.
